私奔，一个常在狗血电视剧里出现的桥段，用英语应该怎么说呢？
我们可以直接使用elope这个词来表示“私奔”，elope有两个意思：
1. to run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent（一般未经父母同意，为了结婚而偷偷地逃跑）
2. to run away from one's spouse with a lover（与情人一起私奔，逃离原配）
例：She attempted to elope, but didn't get far and was sent home.
她试过私奔，但没跑多远就被送回家了。
不过，现在私奔有了新的含义，也可用于指举办小型私密的婚礼。
例：If you opt to elope instead and invite only a few dear friends and family, you could end up saving yourself tens of thousands of dollars.
如果你选择私密婚礼，只邀请几个亲密的朋友和家人，你可以为自己省下成千上万美元。
另外，还可以用run off/away with sb来描述与某人私奔。
例：She ran away with her boss.
她与老板私奔了。
